Willow Ranch Calendar Girls

Willow Ranch Restaurant out in Buttonwillow not only has great food, but also happens to have a lot of beautiful girls working there. I was asked to photograph a calendar for them featuring their staff and the restaurant with a vintage twist. It was so much fun! Spending the day at the restaurant with a great group of ladies and eating some good food, what more could a photographer ask for? I was hesitant to blog these photos until the calendar is available, but I got the ok from Willow Ranch and just couldn’t wait! Kim’s Marylin Monroe Inspired Portrait Session

I know it seems so silly, but I am as they are being labeled a “Gleek.” My boyfriend, a musician, thinks it absolutely absurd how I run to the couch every Tuesday night once I hear the American Idol credits, super excited for this weeks episode of Glee. It is one of the few shows I actually sit down in front of the TV to watch.

“Why do you like this so much?” he asked me during the season premiere. Well, it’s simple. Glee makes me happy. I love these catchy songs, I love musicals and I think Jane Lynch is hilarious. So of course I like Glee, and no matter how much he makes fun of me I am going to keep watching it. If you caught it last week you may have (like me) been singing Vogue to yourself non stop. I thought the power of Madonna episode was brilliant. I had forgotten how much I actually like Madonna. More importantly, I think it’s important for women today to continually empower themselves. This of course reminded me of a photo session I have wanted to share with you.

Last month I photographed Kim. She wanted some photos that resemble the iconic Marylin Monroe. It was such a fun session and as I chatted with Kim I found her truly inspiring. These photos are for her (although I am sure her man is going to enjoy them too). I think every women should take a lesson from Kim and do something like this for yourself. Something that makes you feel beautiful, or powerful, or important. Because you are…all of those things!!

Allie – Retro Beauty Session

As usual I am super excited to share these photos. I know, I am always excited, but this was probably one of my hardest blogs yet to compose. Allie’s beauty session had so many perfect shots it was impossible for me to narrow them down for the blog. If I didn’t know Allie personally I would have sworn I was shooting a professional model. I’m always prepared to give lots of instruction when shooting people for the first time, but Allie was flawless. (Stunning hair and make-up by Chelsea Edge).
