Merry Christmas from JenWillPhoto!

The first round of Christmas cards is out in the mail. Some I still need to send because I am horrible at collecting and saving addresses. Yet, enough are out there, and I just couldn’t wait to blog this!

Fantasy photo shoots are some of my absolute favorite things to do. They are so fun for me because I get to create a story from concept to completion. So, when I decided to make a special JWP Christmas card this year I knew I wanted to do something totally new. I spend most of my time capturing reality. I am so lucky to be able to document the real love between couples and families. This year especially, I had hundreds of photos to chose from that would have made wonderful Christmas cards. Then I decided it can also be really fun to leave reality completely out of it. That’s when the wheels started turning, a friend returned a Little Red Riding Hood costume I loaned her for Halloween, and bam! My Christmas card began to come to life.

Heather returns once again to play the part of Little Red Riding Hood and I must say, she did it perfectly! The wolf, you probably won’t be surprised to find out, is Brad. You may have seen a facebook post a few weeks ago asking if anyone had a dog that would be suitable for this shoot. Well, I went on planning without a dog, deciding that a dog might be too much trouble and I could do some fancy photoshop work later. Then the morning of my shoot arrived and inspiration hit! Poor Brad… he woke up that morning by me shaking him and exclaiming in my high pitched excited voice, “Wake up! I need you to be a wolf!” Probably the weirdest wake up call of his life but I couldn’t be happier with the results.

I also must add, one thing I love about my friends is that they are asked to do the most seemingly ridiculous things and never question me. Trusting my vision is one of the greatest compliments they can ever give me. For fantasy shoots, a lot of times the shoot and final product are so different that it is hard to know where I am going. Yet for this shoot, they marched out in the bushes with total cooperation and smiled as I looked at my camera giddy with excitement, knowing what would soon come of all this.

So in conclusion, Merry Christmas to all of you! Thank you for all your love, support, encouragement and the joy you bring to my life. We have an amazing year ahead of us!

xoxo- j
