A little exploration of landscapes and politics

This weekend I was very fortunate to be asked to take some portraits for an upcoming political campaign. This portrait session took me to a little part of California just north of Bakersfield that I was surprised to find I had never explored. I have been to Porterville and Visalia, and I have passed through their surrounding cities dozens of times. Yet, I had never taken the time to really see and experience the beauty just an hour north of us up the 65. Beautiful foothills, ranch land, orchards of olives, oranges, and all kinds of agriculture were just some of the scenic experiences we encountered. Not to mention, the promise of the best mexican food we have ever eaten. It was also a day after a heavy rain and the weather had the perfect feeling of fall. Over all, it was one of the most pleasant and unique portrait sessions I have had the priveledge of shooting. I’m sure I will be blogging more about this experience and upcoming experiences with this client in the future. Until then, here are a few landscapes I shot along the way. I do not consider myself to be a landscape photographer. People are of course my specialty. However, when the land gives you this kind of beauty and practically puts the shot in your camera itself, you simply can’t resist capturing it.
